Lucy
About the Patient

Meet Lucy

Lucy is our 21-year-old princess with profound disabilities. She is nonverbal, bedbound, generally cooperative with care, and has a quiet temperament. She lives with her family in a certified family home.

Nursing responsibilities

  • G-tube management
  • Medication administration
  • PRN medication determination and administration
  • Seizure management
  • Intermittent catheterization
  • Oxygen administration when indicated
  • Personal care
  • Clinical documentation
  • Availability as a resource to unlicensed staff

Qualifications

An active Idaho RN license or qualifying compact-state license is required, along with experience in the core clinical responsibilities above. We value reliability, compassion, and a commitment to long-term care.

Typical Shift

You'll provide one-on-one nursing care for Lucy—medication administration, G-tube and catheterization management, seizure monitoring, personal care, and clinical documentation—in a calm home setting.

Scheduling

Very flexible. We'll work with you to build a schedule that fits your life—see the details below.

Compensation

$58.72/hour, W-2 employment. At 40 hours/week, estimated gross earnings are $9,395.20 every four weeks. Use the calculator above to model other schedules.

Working Environment

Care takes place in a quiet, comfortable certified family home—not a busy facility. You'll work with one consistent patient and a supportive family.

Orientation & Training

Orientation is provided by Lucy's mother, an RN and family nurse practitioner, covering Lucy's routines, equipment, and care plan before independent shifts begin.

Scheduling

Built around your life.

The schedule is genuinely flexible. Here's how it works:

Hours

A minimum of 25 hours weekly is requested, up to 40 hours. You choose how much you work within that range.

Shift Times

We prefer a mix of some mornings (5:30 AM–10:30 AM) and some evenings (5:30 PM–10:30 PM), but the actual days are very flexible.

Shift Trades

Lucy's mom is also a nurse hired to work for Lucy, so shift trades are always welcome and appreciated.

Commitment

A minimum six-month employment commitment is requested, and longer terms are welcome.

Weekend Coverage

We request 3–5 weekend blocks per month—for example, two Saturdays and two Sundays. The exact weekends are flexible and can be arranged to suit your schedule.

Optional Sleep-Hour Income

Additional income is available for sleep hours if desired—$12/hour to be on call for Lucy's needs during those hours. This is completely optional and can be added or set aside to suit your preference and schedule.

Because this is a live-in arrangement, on-call sleep-hour pay is not taxable—you keep the full $12/hour.

Vacations

Take time off without losing your income.

Because we put our resources into top-of-the-line pay instead of the typical agency benefits package, paid time off isn't part of this role. What you get instead is industry-leading hourly compensation—and the flexibility to take time off without it costing you.

Work More, Save Up

Because you're live-in and private pay, you're not subject to agency work-hour caps—so you're welcome to work more than 40 hours per week on the weeks leading up to a vacation, building up extra earnings so your paycheck isn't affected by your time away.

Trades Cover Your Shifts

With shift trades, we can arrange to cover one another while you're away—so your periodic absences for vacations don't disrupt your paycheck or Lucy's care.

A Common Question

Why is the hourly rate so high?

It's a fair question—and the answer is simple. We cut out the middleman. You're hired directly for Lucy, not through a staffing agency, so there's no agency markup and no corporate overhead standing between you and your paycheck.

Hired Directly

No agency sits between you and Lucy's care. That saves the state the cost of keeping an agency involved—and we pass that savings straight to you.

No Overhead

The certified family home keeps $0 of your wages. Every dollar budgeted for your care goes to you—so you keep the entire paycheck.

More Than Benefits

The pay well beyond an average Idaho wage more than makes up for the typical benefits an agency might offer—putting more money in your pocket, your way.

Former Caregiver Testimonials

Real words from people who've been here.

These are actual quotes from former caregivers who lived and worked in our home.

“Scheduling is great! When I cared for Lucy I was in school and I was working 60 hours a week and I still had time to have a social life! It was super flexible.”

“I cared for Lucy for 10 months. It was really laid back! The most surprising thing was the freedom to come and go into my space. It built my resume and I learned a lot about medical care. I felt supported and safe.”

“Elisa will work with your schedule. If you need to run errands, and stuff like that she will communicate with you and let you do that. As a student, at first I was afraid I wouldn't be able to work the full hours at first, but once you get the flow of it, I quickly learned that it was very doable!”

“This is actually real! I was living here from about a year and a half. I would have stayed longer, but it just wasn't possible.”
